BURBANK, Calif./EWORLDWIRE/Oct. 5, 2005 --- Crush Creative produces prints for High Fashion Crime-Scenes series.Crush Creative, a Southern California based visual communications agency, recently completed the production of large photographic prints for contemporary artist Melanie Pullen's first exhibition.
Using the Lightjet 5000 digital photo device, Crush Creative produced twenty-two 72" x 93" glossy prints as well as several smaller prints at 36" x 48" and 48" x 63" depicting vintage crime-scene images. "These prints are purchased by some of the most discerning art buyers from around the world. In order to satisfy this level of sophistication, Crush Creative had to utilize the highest measures of quality control. It was critical that no blemishes at all were visible to the naked eye," said Ian Sykes, Sr. Account Executive. To uphold the superior quality of these prints, Crush Creative executed this project using the highest of quality control standards.
Pullen's large scale prints address four dominant themes: death by fire, water and hanging; and the sometimes dangerous environment of the subway. These crime-scenes are depicted using first-hand accounts and documents Pullen minded from the files of the Los Angeles Police Department, the County Coroner and other primary sources. She revisited these situations throughout the series. A woman's legs dangle from a flaming dumpster. The body of a young woman floats amidst a sea of plastic. Drawn to the rich details and compelling stories preserved in the criminal records, Pullen restages the event, outfitting the victims in current haute couture and photographing them in her staged settings. She treats each composition like a still life that both reveals and obscures its content beneath layers of brilliant color, atmosphere, and fabric.
Following the success of the exhibition, Crush Creative also produced sixty additional prints that were scanned in Asia for Melanie's new book, published by Nazraeli Press. Additionally, Crush Creative has been tasked with the fine art mounting of the High Fashion Crime Scene photos to 1/8" clear plex that will eventually be sold to private collectors.
