GRAY COURT, S.C./EWORLDWIRE/Feb. 6, 2006 --- Local teen Ana Collins recently launched www.ukandirelanddream.com to raise money for a trip to the U.K. and Ireland with the People to People student ambassador program. The People to People program is a world-renowned education experience that has touched the lives of many.People to People Student Ambassador Programs are invitation-only programs that provide international educational opportunities for grade school, junior high school and high school students, according to the People to People website. Journeys combine hands-on cultural experiences, behind-the-scenes access to fascinating people and places, and amazing outdoor adventures to create life-changing educational experiences.
Ana’s father commented: “This is her show - I think it just reveals how much she has the desire, drive and maturity to make it happen. It showed me a side of her that most parents wait until their kids are grown and gone before they realize their kids are going to make it in this world.” Her mother Donna says, “This is an opportunity of a lifetime for any kid to have and with her studies, going to church twice a week, and her responsibilities after school because of my work schedule, we think the web site idea is the best but not the only way to help out.”
Ana has constructed a web site, with the help of her mother who is a web developer and includes information to various related sites that fully explain the validity and programs that she is involved with. The site is structured in an array of squares that will allow, for $5 a square, a person or a business to either have a name or link placed on the page. Also, Ana is very busy personally writing all those who donate to thank them for their support.
“ I just want people to be comfortable with getting involved or donating to this. If they knew Ana’s life, they would already know that she has paid the price of this trip years ago. Amazingly, after surviving the death of her sister, she still remains positive and resilient about life and the learning process. “
