Court Definition of News in Victor-Hugos Crackhead Jesus Trials Evokes Deliberations over Free Speech Protections for Bloggers and News Outlets

A hearing is set for April 3, 2008 at Palm Beach County Court in Delray Beach, Fla. at 2:00 p.m.

For Immediate Release

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla./EWORLDWIRE/April 2, 2008 --- Standards of competency and ethics for attorneys and others such as Democratic frontrunners Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton could be determined in a bizarre Florida case involving maverick artist Victor-Hugo Vaca Jr. (Palm Beach County Court at 200 West Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, Fla., Case # 50-2006-CC-016579).

In a letter dated February 25, 2008, to West Palm Beach Judge Donald Hafele, the Boca Raton Law Firm of Conde & Cohen P.L. asks the United States court system to ponder and define "news or the reporting thereof." The question forces the controversial Judge to re-examine and determine whether the marriage of online journalism with parody found in cable shows such as Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with John Stewart" can apply to the Internet iNovel - a revolutionary format created by multimedia artist, Victor-Hugo Vaca Jr., and if these media are the same as print, radio and TV news when it comes to free-press protections against possible charges of libel.

According to Ann Zimmerman of the Wall Street Journal, Judge Hafele previously sent correspondence complaining to the Florida Bar Association about a letter from Palmer Reifler, which presented evidence to the court that could be misleading.

The New York State Supreme Court, in the case of the National Bank of Mexico v. Narconews.com (Southern District of New York Banco Nacional de Mexico, S.A. Plaintiff, v. Mario Renato Menedez Rodriguez, Al Giordano, and The Narco News Bulletin; Case Number: 00 Civ. 8941 (HB) Filed August 9, 2000) ruled that online journalists reporting on matters of public importance like their colleagues in other media can only be found guilty of libel if their actions are deemed malicious.

Asked to comment on the controversy over his diary of the world on canvas, the founder of MAMM - an international coalition of artists, musicians, and professionals seeking to raise peaceful awareness about social issues affecting humanity through their collective mixed media art, music and live performances - said, "The butterfly effect created by the growing popularity of the iNovel format could prevent the United States from becoming the kind of democracy people have grown accustomed to seeing in places like Darfur, Tibet, China and under Mugabe's leadership in Zimbabwe."

The self proclaimed "dark-dark-horse presidential candidate" said he would not comment on his seven-page response to both unsolicited letters from Aaron R. Cohen to Judge Hafele, found in Palm Beach County Court Registry.

The sleeper hit, 'http://www.crackheadjesus.com', has been visited by over 44 countries. The artist is writing the script with urban entertainment moguls from The 400 Club. The dark comedy, described as a Harry Potter for adults, has been renamed, "Redemption (Episode One: Crackhead Jesus)."

Victor-Hugo's art will be on display April 15-18 at Stivers School for the Arts in Dayton, Ohio.
