VIDEO AVAILABLE: The Shops at Kenilworth attracts New Retailers

Kenilworth boasts three new lease signings, expands established storefront

For Immediate Release

BALTIMORE/EWORLDWIRE/May 6, 2008 --- The Shops at Kenilworth, Towson, Maryland continues to grow, despite the national economic downtown in retail, with three new lease signings, expanding its already strong brand of popular shops.

Joining The Shops at Kenilworth are Azura Clothing Company, bluehouse and Fells Point Surf Co. All three stores are expected to open on or around August 1, 2008.

"This is the first time we have had space available at Kenilworth in quite some time," said John Heekin, owner of The Shops at Kenilworth. "Baltimore is one of the few markets in the country with young entrepreneurs active in retail. Towson is a top end market - it's unusual to have a space here. Giving these young entrepreneurs a chance to come to Towson is special for them."

"The merchandise is a great fit with Towson as an emerging college town and with 2400 residential units in the area, in some phase of development, their presence adds to the areas already strong demographic," said John Harrington, senior vice president for MacKenzie Retail, who see these shops as a dynamic fit for the area.

"These stores complement Kenilworth as a lifestyle center," said Heekin. "They take us in a direction that is urban and younger - which is where Towson is going. Kenilworth's appeal is multi-generational and accessible."

This is the second boutique for Azura Clothing Company founded in Rehoboth, Delaware, featuring unique and contemporary fashion finds from around the world.

bluehouse items are created from reclaimed, recycled and/or recyclable materials, alternative or managed resources, created locally and/or by hand from organic, natural or chemical-free materials and/or from particularly durable or long-lasting materials.

Fells Point Surf Company brings all things related to surf, snow and skate boarding to Kenilworth. From jams and flops and clothing, to outfitting boarders with all the right gear - whether it's sand, snow or pavement, fans young and old will find it here.

In addition to the new leases, Learning How, provider of educational materials from workbooks to play school sets, is expanding within the mall to a new, larger location, increasing the store's square footage from 3900 to 5500, which will be filled with an expanded inventory.

Twenty percent growth over the last five years continues to demonstrate that Kenilworth is the preferred local lifestyle destination of choice for area shoppers.

"Average sales at Kenilworth are now at $394 a foot, and we expect our new tenants to push us toward $450 per foot - we're doing very well," said Heekin.

At nearly 30 years old, Kenilworth delivers consistency in retail to the neighborhood through its anchor stores - JoS. A Bank Clothiers and Stebbins Anderson - while growing, expanding and working with its other tenant stars, keeping Kenilworth fresh, innovative and relevant to area shoppers.
