For Immediate Release
SACRAMENTO, Calif./EWORLDWIRE/June 2, 2009 --- On Tuesday, May 26, 2009, the 74th California Assembly district named E-World Recyclers as its Small Business of the Year. The award was presented at the California Small Business Day held at the Sacramento Sheraton Grande and attended by over 500 business leaders and legislators. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger himself was on hand to give the keynote address. Bob Erie, the company's CEO, received the presentation from Assemblyman Martin Garrick. "I chose to recognize E-World Recyclers," Garrick said, "because the company has developed a business that provides a solution to California's growing electronic waste problem and creates jobs for North County San Diegans."
"We were humbled to have been selected for this award and it is a tribute to our employees, clients and community," said Erie. E-World Recyclers ('http://www.eworldrecyclers.com') was founded in 2006 and through a combination of corporate contacts and community outreach seeks to properly dispose of products such as computers, fax machines, monitors and television sets. In the last year alone E-World Recyclers successfully diverted 9.5 million pounds of electronic waste from California landfills.
"The California Small Business day is a special event when government, businesses, associations and community come together to honor these men and women for their contributions of innovation, job creation and economic growth to the state," said Betty Jo Toccoli, president of the California Small Business Association. "The event also presents participants with a wide range of informative seminars and networking opportunities."
"Small businesses are the backbone of our economy," Governor Schwarzenegger said during his speech. "Here in this room, I see the fighting spirit and the optimism that makes California so great. Together I know we will persevere and make sure that California will become again the tremendous beacon of opportunity."
