Sturge-Weber Foundation Publishes Revised Textbook

For Immediate Release

MT. FREEDOM, N.J./EWORLDWIRE/Dec. 10, 2010 --- Sturge-Weber Syndrome, a medical text first published by the Sturge-Weber Foundation (SWF) in 1999, is now available in a revised second edition.

When it was first compiled and edited by John Bodensteiner, M.D. and E.S. Roach, M.D., it was the first medical text in over 40 years to cover Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS). The second edition contains the latest information and insight as well as descriptions and photos of newer imaging modalities. There is updated information about the clinical findings of SWS.

Sturge-Weber syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by a facial port wine birthmark, often accompanied by seizures and glaucoma. Clinicians and patients alike will find comprehensive information in the book to assist in understanding and addressing the concerns of SWS patients.

The Sturge-Weber Foundation, headquartered in Mt. Freedom, N.J., provides education, information and friendly support for individuals and families coping with Sturge-Weber syndrome and other port wine birthmark conditions.

The book can be obtained through the SWF Web site at Sturge-Weber.org/marketplace (http://www.sturge-weber.org/marketplace).

Dr. Bodensteiner is in practice at the Barrow Neurological Institute of St. Joseph Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. Dr. Roach is at the Childrens Hospital, Department or Neurology, in Columbus, Ohio.
