International Golden Image competition compares 353 entries in 50 categories

BURBANK, Calif./EWORLDWIRE/Oct. 20, 2011 --- The 2011 Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) Expo brought together leaders of the specialty imaging industry this year in New Orleans. In addition to a successful showcase, Coloredge New York - Los Angeles was recognized in the Association's prestigious Golden Image Competition with a win in the digital graphics-building graphics category for work on the Dinosaur Hall exhibit atthe Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.

More than 66 companies from around the world entered the competition, submitting a total of 353 prints in 50 product categories. Conducted during the 2011 SGIA Expo (New Orleans, October 19-21), this year's event was one of the most challenging in recent history.

"The judges had a very difficult time this year, not because of the sheer volume of entries, but because of the overall quality of the work. Judges in virtually every category told me the entries were so good that choosing winners was a real challenge," said Johnny Shell, SGIA's vice president of technical services.

Shell added that the Golden Image competition is judged on the technical accomplishments of each entry, excluding aesthetic issues from the evaluation and scoring process. Prints are judged on the level of difficulty and quality of execution.

"Winning the Golden Image Award for building graphics puts Coloredge NewYork - Los Angeles among the top specialty printers in the world in terms of quality and capability.
